BRISSETTE RACING

SINCE 1955

WHERE THE SALT GET IN YOUR BLOOD

                                  To live a Dream
There is nothing like the feeling of power thumping in your body that wants to shake your teeth out or to feel like your heart is going to pound out of you chest.

Since I was a young boy my hero was a man who had became a member of a group of people who set records in landspeed racing.

So after all these years I was given the chance to posably become a member of this club and follow in the footsteps of some well known and some not so well known men and women, who have done some amazing things with what they had to work with.

The first time that I was to try I got dressed in my suite and put on my hat, I was very calm and feeling high on life for what I was about to do. I went over to the group of people that were waiting for me,
I had gotten into the car and put on my seatbelt then we sat for what seemed like an hour.
Then the engine started and the thunder and force pounded so hard that it felt like my heart was going to leap out of my chest.
We were finally told we could go, so I  pulled down my visor and it fogged up right away making it hard to see,  this was scary, for by the time it cleared up I had traveled a half mile and I was shifting into second gear.

The thunder of the engine and the vibrations of the car smoothed out half way through second gear as I shifted into third gear I asked my-self could I handle it, could I control it, could I like do my hero had done.
I shifted into forth gear and had only gone three and a half miles and the car told me not today will you be one of them as it started to slide from side to side.
I pushed in the clutch and took my foot off the gas and got control of the car as I passed the four mile maker.

I pulled over and stopped, after several minutes had past the man  I call my hero pulls up and tells me that even though I didn't make it I had gone 244 miles per hour and that was 24 miles per hour more than he had gone, in 1957,  when he broke a record and became the 28th member of the Bonneville 200 MPH Club.

This is the club for the men and women who have set a land speed record.
One day I hope to share the honor of being a record holder with my father and other great men and women like him.
